أمسكته قلما

أعلمه أبجدية الحرف

ما إن خط كلمة على ورقة

طغى الغرور بطبعه متمردا

معتقدا أنه حظي بفضيلة العلم

وصاح متنكرا

إليك إليك عني

فأنا بحر من العلم

لم يعلم أن للعلم بحورا

يعتلي مراكبه

لينهل ما لم يعلم

الفتى يمضي سنينا في تعلمه

وينقضي العمر وكأنه لم يتعلم

العلم يتطلب تواضعا

وأدبا للمعلم

فليس كل من خط كلمة بأديب

وليس من سرق من غيره شاعر

إياك أن ترمي بسهمك

من كان لك معلم

فقد تخيب الرمية

ويكون سهمك لك قاتل

كن لمعلمك شاكرا

فالخائب من كان للمعلم ناكرا

Teacher denial

Dr. Muhammad Tawfiq Mamdouh Al-Rifai

I grabbed him a pen

Teach him the alphabet

Once you write a word on a piece of paper

Vanity prevailed in his rebellious nature

Believing that he had the virtue of knowledge

Disguised shouted

Here's to you about me

I am a sea of knowledge

He did not know that knowledge has seas

He mounts his boats

To learn what he did not know

The boy spends years learning it

Life passes as if he had not learned

Science requires humility

And politeness to the teacher

Not everyone who writes a word is polite

No one who steals from others is a poet

Don't throw your arrow

Who was your teacher?

The shot may fail

And your arrow will be fatal to you

Be thankful to your teacher

The one who is disappointed in the teacher is ungrateful
